As Morris prepares to take his written board exams, the staff tries to uncover details about Neela's unusual new intern. Meanwhile, Kovac's obligations to his family in Croatia leave Abby feeling the burden of single parenthood; and Moretti, pleased with Gates' performance in the ICU, reassigns him to the ER.
Short summary Edit
Morris is missing Hope and having trouble with thoughts of straying. Neela gets an intern and must find the best way to mentor him. Gates is given another chance in the ER, and quickly clashes with Kayson on a diagnosis. Abby hears from Luka and learns that his absence will be extended another week. Coburn tries to help a resistant Abby.
- In this episode we learn that Coburn is a recovering alcoholic; she is Abby's sponsor, and a sponsor of an alcoholic is someone who is further along in their recovery.
- Steven C. Parker (who portrays Harold Zelinski, a recurring character throughout Season 14) made a previous guest star appearance as a different character (Gus) in the Season 11 episode "Here and There."
- This episode marks Goran Višnjić's first appearance in a six-episode story arc that spans Season 14 and 15. He is listed first in the main cast credits, rather than being billed as a guest star or as making a special appearance.
Sam: Moretti's looking for you.
Gates: I'm taking this guy to ICU.
Sam: He's in the break room.
Gates: Well he's gonna have to wait.
Sam: He said it's important.
Gates: What the hell does he want?
Sam: Don't shoot the messenger! Jeez...
Archie: Okay, you're feeling some pressure? Excellent. Name me three bacteria for neonatal sepsis.
Greg: Bend over and kiss my ass.
Archie: Those are not bacteria!
