Sandy Lopez was the girlfriend of Kerry Weaver and the mother of their son, Henry Lopez. She worked as a firefighter.

Season 8[]
Weaver met Sandy in the episode, Partly Cloudy, Chance of Rain when she was trying to rescue a pregnant woman who was involved in an ambulance crash. As the two of them develop a close relationship, Sandy tells her that she didn't want to date a woman who was in the closet and she forcibly outed Weaver by kissing her in front of her colleagues.
Season 9[]
Weaver and Sandy were still in a relationship together. After Weaver suffers from a miscarriage, she suggests that Sandy should carry the baby; however, she refused to get pregnant because she thought that it would impact her firefighting career.
Season 10[]
By 2004, Sandy gave birth to a son named Henry; however, she was badly injured in a fire and died during surgery. After Sandy's death, Weaver found herself in a custody battle with Sandy's parents over Henry. In the 11th season premiere, the custody situation was settled with Weaver having primary custody of Henry and the Lopezes caring for him while she works.
