Blizzard is the tenth episode of the first season of the NBC medical drama series ER. It premiered on December 8, 1994.

Synopsis[]

On a snowy Chicago day, all is quiet in the ER and the staff amuses themselves.

Mark Greene and Susan Lewis put a cast on Carter 's leg as a practical joke while Malik tries his hand at rap. Carol Hathaway announces that she and Tag are engaged.

Dr. Angela Hicks joins the hospital staff.

A major traffic accident on a local highway leads to a flood of patients. Doug Ross misdiagnoses a patient with tragic results.

Bob the ER aide shows off her skills in an emergency situation.

NBC Description[]

SNOW TIME TO WASTE: When a blizzard brings Chicago to a standstill, the ER staff finds creative ways to pass the time.

Just when they are reaching new levels of boredom, a fifteen-car pileup on the expressway wreaks havoc in the ER. With mass casualties, the Chicago Sheriff's department must escort in additional doctors to assist.

  • One of Carol 's lines in this episode, "Hurry up, Carter, you've got a million things to do!" can be heard again in the Season 11 finale, "The Show Must Go On", when Carter is remembering his early days in the hospital as he leaves the ER for the very last time.
